After a nice cultural experience in Athens, it was time to party again. We took a boat to Mykonos only to be dropped off at some vacant port with no one around; there we stood with 100+ other people with nothing around and no one knows how to get to their accommodations. After a bus ride through some cliffs, a walk through a town, and a taxi ride up a hill, we found our hotel. We were very excited to stay at the Hotel Aelos as it was the 7th best hotel in Mykonos according to TripAdvisor. We found out the website we used to book (skoosh.com, horrible don't ever us it) screwed us and put us in the New Aelos Hotel, 100th best hotel in Mykonos according to TripAdvisor. It was horrible. We were so excited for our nice baller hotel, and we found ourselves feeling like we were back in Ibiza. So we put our bags down and partied the whole time, avoiding our hotel at all cost. During the day we went to a beach party at Paradise Beach. It was similar to Bora Bora Bar in Ibiza, but with less sloppy Brits. Every night we made our way to the Scandinavian Bar and by the end of our trip we were gods their.
We got a bunch of free t-shirts, never had to pay cover, got fellow Americans in at no cover, and all the while sneaking in drinks so we did not need to buy 8€ mixed drinks. Amazing. Mykonos was the most authentic place we had ever been. The pure white buildings with the blue windows, pink flowers hanging from hatch patios, and drunken Greek people everywhere. We met so many cool people, our favorite being Jersey Dan (stereotypical super buff American nice guy from Dirty Jersey). Minus the mix up with the hotel, we had a great time in Mykonos! Next stop, Santorini!Tuesday, July 14, 2009
